Conflict and Crisis
Literature and Film in Troubled Times

We are currently accepting submissions for our annual Graduate Romanic Association Colloquium. This year we would like to propose a day of reflection on the various ways literature and film have confronted tension and discord throughout history. Papers may examine the conference topic from a variety of perspectives, including social, psychological, cultural, theoretical, political, ideological and/or artistic.
Please submit an anonymous, 250-word abstract along with a cover letter stating your name, paper title, academic affiliation, address, e-mail, and phone number by January 31st, 2002 to:

GRA Colloquium 2002
Department of Romance Languages and Literatures
University of Pennsylvania
521 Williams Hall

Papers should relate the conference topic to any Romance language literature and/or film of any period or provenance. We also encourage papers of an interdisciplinary and /or theoretical nature. Abstracts (for papers limited to 20-minutes) may be submitted in English, French, Italian or Spanish. Additionally, selected papers may be considered for publication in our Annual Working Papers series.
