Assistant Professor, Non-tenure stream, Contractual

The University of Toronto invites applications for a Contractually Limited Term Appointmentas an Assistant Professor in French commencing July 1, 2006. This is a non–tenure stream position for a limited term of two years. The Department of French is seeking applicants with
demonstrated excellence in the areas of French Cinema and French as a Second Language. Extensive knowledge of film theory would be an asset. Candidates should have an excellent record of research and extensive experience in teaching courses in French Cinema and in French as a Second Language. Duties will include teaching at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels and development of French Cinema courses. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Cinema Studies, French Studies or a closely related field and are expected to have an excellent teaching record, an excellent record of research, native fluency in the French language, as well as the ability to teach and work in English. Applicants should ask three referees to send a letter of recommendation under separate cover to the address below. The letters must be received by the deadline for receipt of applications.
