A Special Issue of South Asian Diaspora will be published in 2013 on:

“Unrepresented Regions, Unheard Stories: Mapping Diasporic Identities”

Guest Editors: Mala Pandurang & Delphine Munos

The last two decades have witnessed a growing interest in theorizing literary narratives that address the South Asian diasporic experience. By and large, however, what has emerged is an academic consensus which accords an ever-greater visibility to mainstream diasporic voices from North America, U.K., some parts of Africa and of the Caribbean, at the expense of narratives dealing with South Asian diasporic communities that are based in other locations. Also, such critical consensus valorizes certain class-streamed patterns of migration over others, with the result of homogenizing the diversity of today’s South Asian diaspora.

We invite papers exploring literary representations of the migrant experiences of those underrepresented South Asian communities based in locations such as South America, East Europe, the Gulf, West Africa and East Asia. We are interested in critical interventions focusing on literary renditions of these marginalized South Asian diasporic experiences, but do not wish to restrict ourselves to texts written by authors who necessarily originate from these areas. Translated literature may also be discussed.

All invited and contributed manuscripts to this special issue will be peer reviewed. For guidelines of how to prepare the manuscript, please visit the journal website: http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/rsad.  

Interested contributors are requested to contact the editors with an abstract of about 300 words.  Final manuscripts for the Special Issue should be submitted no later than   1^st November  2012. Submission of manuscripts through electronic mail (preferably as MS Word attachment) to Mala Pandurang (mpandu@gmail.com) or Delphine Munos (delphine.munos@ulg.ac.be) is especially encouraged. Alternatively, please submit three printed copies and an electronic version (MS Word format on a floppydisk or a CD) of the manuscript to:
