CHILD, LANGUAGE, IMAGINARY AND LITERARY TEXT
Centre and margins in Children's Literature
II International Congress

Universidade do Minho
Institute of Child Studies
Av. Central, 100. 4700-229 Braga
Portugal
February 8, 9, 10, 2006

It is for us, investigators in the domain of the children and young's literature, deeply relevant the role of the literary text in the aesthetic initiation of the child and in the opening of productive courses for the development and materialization of a creative and imaginative thought.

We considered that this is the moment of exploring the role of the literary text in the development and formation of the subject, looking for and showing its relationships with the imaginary.

Simultaneously, we will try to answer to the relationships of the literary with the notion of centre and of periphery, keeping in mind the singular specificity of this cultural object.

As the theme of the Congress is plural and open, we welcome all the communications that approach any of the following sub-areas (not excluding others):

- processes of mythical and symbolic reconfiguration in Children's Literature
- the classic and the canonical and their relationships with the multiple peripheries
- the images of identity and modification in Children's Literature
- Children's Literature and pedagogic practices
- the semiotic dialogue between the iconic and the written text in Children's Literature
- children and young's literature, reader and literary competence
- the specific character of the children and young's literature translation
- literature and market: the literary and the best-seller.

Work languages: Portuguese, English, Castilian and French.

We welcome communication proposals with the maximum duration of 15 minutes, in the thematic areas of the Congress. They will be object of evaluation by the Scientific Commission.
