Translation and Multilingualism

We invite submissions from postgraduate students and early career researchers across disciplines to present their work on multilingualism and translation.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

·         The challenges of translating multilingual texts

·         Minority languages and translation

·         Translation and multilingualism in postcolonial contexts

·         Official bilingualism

·         The ‘untranslatable’

·         Language policy 

·         Translator training and multilingualism

·         Multilingualism and contemporary translation practices (e.g. web translation)

Proposals should include your name, institution, level of study and a 150 word summary of your proposed presentation. Please submit your proposal to Dr Charlotte Baker c.baker@lancaster.ac.uk by Friday 26 February 2016.

The postgraduate conference is part of “Translation Lancaster”, a one-day event for postgraduate students and translation professionals on 22nd April 2016. ‘Translation Lancster will include the postgraduate conference, a translation masterclass, careers workshop and networking lunch

Registration for the event is free. Travel bursaries of £50 are available for postgraduate students presenting papers who are unable to obtain funding from their home institution.

Undergraduates wishing to gain an insight into translation studies are very welcome to attend.
