Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (Cape Town)

University of Cape Town invite applications for the above post for appointment as soon as possible.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in French language and/or literature
  • A proven track-record of research activity (e.g. scholarly monographs and articles in ISI journals). 
  • Expertise in teaching French language and literature to students for whom French is not a first language.
  • An ability to communicate effectively in English is also a prerequisite.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to be able to head the Section of French Language and Literature, and provide academic leadership. He/she will also provide direction in enhancing the current undergraduate programmes in French language and literature, and will further develop postgraduate studies in these fields.

Expertise in translation studies and an interest in North African, Caribbean or African literature in French would be an advantage.

  • Lecturer:                 R528 275
  • Senior Lecturer:       R649 534
  • Associate Professor: R766 445
