

The Department of French at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track/tenured assistant/associate professor position in Francophone Studies from an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural perspective. Open area of sub-specialization but a research focus on Maghreb/Mashrek or Mediterranean studies of particular interest. Additional desirable areas: diaspora/migration/transborder identities, film studies, gender and queer studies, or urban studies. Strong background in theory essential with interest in collaborative work with other international programs and area studies centers at the University of Illinois. A successful candidate at the associate level will present an established record of scholarly publications and demonstrate excellence in teaching. Evidence of an active research agenda and a strong commitment to innovative teaching is expected at the assistant professor level. Native or near-native French and English and Ph.D. required for appointment. The target starting date is August 16, 2013. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
