The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Trent University invites applications for a nine-month limited-term appointment in French Studies, pending budgetary approval, from August 1st, 2016 to April 30, 2017 at the Peterborough-Symons campus. The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach French Studies at all undergraduate levels. Course topics may include 17th to 20th century French literature, French critique, and French and Francophone culture. Candidates should possess a Ph.D in French Studies or a cognate field, fluency in French, and teaching experience at the university level.

Candidates should also demonstrate excellence in teaching, show familiarity with comparable workload, and have teaching and research experience in the areas described above. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to departmental service and student life, and supervise undergraduate demonstrators or teaching assistants.
