Assistant Professor in French Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education

Department of French and Italian 

            The Department of French and Italian at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in French Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and Teacher Education. Open area of specialization. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.  Ph.D. must be in hand by the start date. The target start date is August 16, 2015. Salary is competitive.

            Native or near native proficiency in French and English is required. Applicants must have teaching experience at the post-secondary level, a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, and an active research agenda demonstrated by publications. Teaching load will be two courses per semester and will include courses for the undergraduate major and minor in French as well as introductory and advanced undergraduate and graduate seminars in SLA.
