The Department of French at New York University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in Contemporary Literature, beginning September 1, 2015, pending administrative and budgetary approval. Preferred candidates will have a strong grasp of current debates in Global and World literature in French, and of the theoretical writings that inform those debates. They will have a strong background in literary history and critical theory, and native or near native proficiency in both French and English. A record of or potential for distinguished scholarly research as well as a record of excellence in teaching are required. PhD in hand by start of appointment. Teaching load is 2/2. Duties include advising at graduate and undergraduate levels.
