Florida State University
Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics
ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF FRENCH SPECIALIZING IN FRANCOPHONE STUDIES

Tenure-track position beginning August 2003, specializing in one or more
aspects of francophone studies such as language and/or linguistics,
literature, media, societal, political and/or gender studies. Applications
from candidates with interests in the Caribbean and/or sub-Saharan Africa
are especially welcome; those specializing in other francophone fields will
also be considered. This position will give the person appointed the
opportunity to contribute to the expansion of FSU's programs in French and
Francophone Studies. With the help of a substantial private endowment, these
are being developed in three main ways: through the widening of our
curriculum, building on faculty hires such as this; by the strengthening of
research and scholarship through generous faculty support and the program of
conferences, visiting professors and other activities organized by the
Winthrop-King Institute for Contemporary French and Francophone Studies; and
through the provision of scholarships and other awards to suitably qualified
students. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate
courses and will work closely with the Winthrop-King Institute. Applicants
must have native or near-native fluency in French, a solid command of
English, and Ph.D. in hand.

Applications accepted until position is filled.
Send letter of application, CV and at least three letters of recommendation
