ASECS Annual Conference: "Matters of Life and Death"

Publié le par Florian Pennanech (Source : American Society for Eighteenth Century Studies)

We are still accepting proposals for the panel sponsored by The Germaine de Staël Society for Revolutionary and Romantic Studies, MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH (the ASECS conference in Albuquerque, March 18-21, 2010). The panel solicits papers on matters relating to life and/or death during the revolutionary/romantic era. We welcome papers from a variety of disciplines (history of science, history of medicine, cultural studies, history, literature, fine arts) and encourage interdisciplinary and new approaches. Topics could include: birth, regeneration, growing processes, diseases and cures, death, burial rituals, and the guillotine as well as representations thereof in the literary, fine arts and cultural realms. Send abstracts of 500 words (by September 20) directly to agardiner@fc.edu with a copy to skaryna@clemson.edu
