FRENCH SECTION
AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP IN FRENCH (FRENCH/JAN04)
Requirements:
First-language (or near first-language) proficiency in French.
Fluency in English.
A Doctorate in French
Teaching experience in the discipline (at tertiary level will be a recommendation).
A reasonable publication record
Proficiency in computer word processing skills.
Knowledge of a) multimedia course development and online tuition and b) French African literature will be a recommendation.
A proven record of competent and successful leadership will be a recommendation.
Duties:
Teaching and supervising students up to postgraduate level.
Sustained research output.
Participation in curriculum development.
Administrative and managerial tasks, including leadership of French Section.
Reference reports
Substantiated reference reports should be attached to the application. Submission of these reports will add value to the application. Failure to provide a reference report shall not automatically disqualify an applicant.
Conditions of service:
Fringe benefits applicable to permanent academic staff shall apply. In view of the merger between the University of South Africa and Technikon Southern Africa on 1 January 2004, certain changes to the conditions of service may be demanded. The right is reserved on behalf of the new institution to effect such changes. Any change in conditions will only become operative after one calendar month's written notice and will be made in full compliance with the current Labour Law.
