The UOC is a completely virtual university which is leading several research projects related to the new technologies and different areas of knowledge (e-learning, e-crime, net-art, e-literature, etc.) "Hermeneia" is an international group consisting of eighteen researchers from Italy, France, England, Finland, United States and Spain. Hermeneia held its first internal research workshop last April entitled Electronic textualities : NewSettingsforLiterature

We are now organizing a second meeting, which will be an international conference. This will take place in Barcelona (15-17 April 2004) and the proposed title is: Under Construction: Digital Literatures and Theoretical Approaches. Some of the most significant researchers in the field such as Jean-Pierre Balpe, Markku Eskelinen, Raine Koskimaa, George P. Landow, Xavier Malbreil, Susana Pajares Tosca, Roberto Simanowski or Alain Vuillemin, have confirmed their participation.

- Narrative Hyperfiction
- New Literary Genres? Computer Games
- Theoretical Approaches to Texts on Digital Literature
- Literary e-learning?
The deadline for submitting abstracts (600-1000 words) is February 1st 2004. These can be in Catalan, Spanish, French, English or Italian but must be accompanied by a version in English. The time scheduled for each paper is 15 minutes, plus 5-10 minutes for discussion.
