LECTURER IN FRENCH STUDIES


The French Department, based in the School of Modern Languages, wishes to appoint a permanent Lecturer in French Studies (Scale A), with effect from 1 September 2002. Applications are particularly invited from specialists in French society and politics, media studies, or cinema, although interest from candidates in any field compatible with the current profile of the Department is welcomed: the department has moved strategically towards a focus on modern and contemporary culture and society, with Film and Media Studies flagged as 5* in the recent RAE. The successful candidate will be expected to have demonstrable strength in research and native or near-native fluency in the language.
