The Department of French at Dalhousie University invites applications for a limited-term position (24-months limited term), at the Lecturer/Assistant Professor level in the area of Applied Linguistics, with subspecialisation or demonstrable interest in Computer-Assisted Language Learning / Multimedia, effective July 1, 2010. This position is subject to budgetary approval. Areas of competence should be a preferably strong research programme, teaching experience and background directly related to teaching responsibilities. The selected candidate will be joining a department of French with solid programs in linguistics, literature and cultural studies, and should thus have a clear and enthusiastic commitment to working in such a broad context. Duties would include teaching beginners, intermediate and advanced language classes, as well as developing 1st year curriculum using CALL. The nature of the courses to be taught requires the candidate to be a native or near-native speaker of French. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants must hold (or be about to receive) a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics. Applications, which should include a letter of application, complete curriculum vitae, a statement of research and teaching interests and philosophies, evidence of teaching competence, and three confidential original letters of professional recommendation forwarded by referees under separate cover, should be sent in hard copy by February 15, 2010 to the Chair, Dr. Vittorio Frigerio, Department of French, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS B3H 4P9.
