Research Associate in Early Modern French Philosophy

Salary: £27,183 to £32,458 pa

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate in Early Modern French Philosophy, in the Department of French. The vacancy arises in relation to a new research project entitled ‘Method and Variation: Narrative in Early Modern French Philosophy', funded by the Leverhulme Trust and the Isaac Newton Trust. You will be expected to engage in research in areas relating to this project alongside its Principal Investigator, Dr Emma Gilby. You will also be expected to contribute to the teaching within the Department, giving some lectures in undergraduate courses in Early Modern French, acting as a convenor for a paper in Early Modern French Thought, supervising M.Phil work in relevant fields, and assisting in Tripos examination. You will be required to hold a Ph.D. and a specialization in Early Modern French. You will have a strong profile, both in terms of research and publications, and with the promise to bring an outstanding input to the Department of French. You will have a native or excellent non-native command of French and English.

Due to limitations of external funds, salary for this pensionable post will be in the range of £27,183 - £32,458pa. The appointment will run from 1 October 2009 for three years, and is subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period of six months.
