CALL FOR PAPERS: Juli — Studies in Children's and Young Adults' Literature

Juli is a new interdisciplinary magazine for international studies in children's and young adults' literature. We invite researchers of all disciplines to send in articles, primarily about the following subjects:

  • Social realities in children's and young adults' literature
  • Othering, sexism and racism in children's and young adults' literature
  • Aspects of socialisation and education in children's and young adults' literature

We will also be happy to take articles about other subjects into account.

Articles should not encompass less than 2,500 and more than 7,000 words. They can be written in English or German. We are looking for theoretical as well as empirical texts.

The dead-line for our first issue is the 30th of September 2008. Manuscripts will go through the normal evaluation process. Guidelines for Authors


Sending in your Manuscript

  • Send in a hard copy by mail to Juli GbR, Oberflecken 25, D- 65391 Lorchhausen, Germany, as well as a digital copy on CD or via e-mail (klotz@juli-zeitschrift.de).
  • Articles should encompass no less than 2,500 and no more than 7,000 words (bibliography and appendix included).
  • Save your document in Word or RTF.
  • Use A4 pages with side margins of 2.5 cm.
  • Use a 12 pt font (e.g. Times) and double-space your text.
  • Use endnotes rather than footnotes. Do not use endnotes for bibliographic data.
  • If you write in German: Please use the new orthographic system.

Arranging your Manuscipt


  • p. 1: title, author, contact details and a short description of yourself and your work (no more than four lines, please do not include publication details)
  • p. 2: synopsis of your article (no more than 20 lines) and two to five keywords
  • starting from page 3: main text
  • at the end of the text: bibliography
  • if included:

- endnotes

- appendix

- tables (no more than one per page)

- pictures or graphs (no more than one per page), black and white. Please

include a digital copy of each picture in JPG, PICT or TIFF.
