CALL FOR PAPERS
Supplementary session, SFS, Dublin 4 July 2001

After the Society for French Studies regular workshop "Word and Image in the late nineteenth century", to be held on the morning of the 4 July, there will be a supplementary session in the afternoon to mark the creation of a new British-Irish Nineteenth Century French Studies Society, whose exact name is yet to be determined.

We hope that as well as providing an additional forum for a very rich area of studies, this afternoon session will make it possible for some of the many people working in nineteenth-century French studies to participate in the formation of the new society.

We invite proposals for papers (in English or French) on the topic "Alterity and Marginality".
This might include such topics as Francophone writing in the nineteenth century, representation of women or by women, or the relationship between marginal sexualities and nineteenth-century culture.

Please send proposals by 15 January 2001, preferably in electronic format, to Jennifer.Yee@ncl.ac.uk or failing that on paper to the address below.

Apologies for any cross-postings.
