Advanced Assistant Professor or Beginning Associate Professor of French

The Department of French and Italian at Emory University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Advanced Assistant Professor or Beginning Associate Professor (with tenure), starting September 1, 2013. Teaching load: 2 courses per semester. PhD required.  We seek a colleague who shares our commitment to critical theory, close textual analysis and interdisciplinary approaches to French and Francophone Studies, and whose areas of specialization will both complement and diversify our signature strengths. Areas of specialization may include: Mediterranean, or African Studies; Gender and Sexuality; Film, Media, and Visual Culture; Science and Literature; Theater and Performance. Candidates should have a record of demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service. Preference may be given to candidates who specialize in more than one field of French and Francophone Studies and/or whose work puts French and Francophone Studies into a dynamic engagement with other fields and disciplines.
