Call for papers

Following its successful conference of 2001 (French Classical Theatre Today: Teaching, Research, Performance) the Centre for Seventeenth-Century French Theatre is holding a conference on 8-9 January, 2003 at the University of Salford (G.B.). The theme will be 'Seventeenth-Century French Drama: Texts; Pre-text, Para-Text, Intertext, Hypertext'. The conference aims to explore the way dramatic texts are:
(i) generated, either in terms of sources, intertexts or composition;
(ii)mediated, for example through acting styles, translation, or publication;
(iii) explained, as in prefaces, or contemporary documents and publications;
(iv) received or perceived, by audiences contemporary or modern;
(v) reproduced in other media, for example film, television or IT.
Proposals for papers should be on one side of A4 should be sent to Professor Philip Tomlinson , School of Languages, University of Salford, Salford M5 4WT by 31 March, 2002 for decisions to be made in April. Postgraduate submissions will be most welcome. Details of the conference programme and arrangements, including names of keynote speakers, will be available from September 2002.
